Spring 2021 Newsletter

Website

During the winter, your Board has been busy updating and creating a new website. We are very excited about it and hope that you will enjoy our coming of age in the digital era. https://saveunionbay.org. We want to thank Martin Smith for his work on our web design and development. It took several months to collect photos, review and write text, and expand our digital presence. If you visit our web page, you will find: We have a logo/brand, shown at the top of this newsletter. All of our recent news will be shown on the Home page. We will post meeting dates as well as let you know what issues we are working on. On our Donations page, you can donate using a credit card or Paypal.

We now also have a Facebook page: Follow us here and add your own comments and photos. https://www.facebook.com/SaveUnionBayAssociation/?ref=nf&hc_ref=ARQNPy3gywgahjweesTIBPzkjUJqfRpmTqG0ORQyQOHQL99qM7NWy71pHaBzpJVUtQI

SUBA Annual Donation Campaign

It’s April and time once again for our annual Fund-Raising Drive. John Impert has graciously agreed to chair this project again. Please thank him when you see him and give generously when he approaches you. We hope everyone will contribute at least $500 to SUBA to fund our annual treatments. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit for tax purposes which makes your donation tax deductible. Make John’s life easier and contribute now! Donate online on our secure website  https://saveunionbay.org/donate/or mail a check, made out to Save Union Bay Association, to: Paul Garner, Treasurer Save Union Bay Association

We want to thank our generous neighbors who have donated over $500 because they have enabled us to meet our annual expenses.

Spring Aquatic Weed Treatment

Early in May, Aquatechnex will perform their annual spring survey to determine invasive plant density and will plan their treatments based on those results. If the survey results are similar to last year’s, we anticipate having the first milfoil treatment in late May and a second treatment on July 15 aimed at all invasive plants along the shoreline. I will let you know the details once it is decided. Keep your fingers crossed that last year’s Procellacor treatment was effective and will reduce our need for treatment this year.
