ABOUT US

Save Union Bay Association (SUBA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of Union Bay on Lake Washington in Seattle. Founded in 1975 by waterfront neighbors concerned with the spread of Eurasian watermilfoil, SUBA has over the years become a more active environmental organization involved with numerous projects that concern Union Bay’s natural ecology. Projects have included reduction and management of invasive aquatic plants, utilizing grants from the city and state as well as consultation with the Seattle Parks Department to find alternatives to pumping algal water from Green Lake into Union Bay, evaluating environmental impact during SR 520 construction, and providing solutions for erosion from nutria and other invasive wildlife.

SUBA’s projects and accomplishments in Union Bay are recognized by the WA State Department of Ecology as a model for other lake associations to follow.
